Weeki Wachee Springs State Park

weekiwacheespringsThe park joined the Florida State Park system only in 2008, but her history goes back to the 1940’s. Since that time, it has been best known for its live mermaids and crystal-clear spring.

From the submerged theater, visitors can view the mermaids perform in the springs’ water that bubbles up from its deep subterranean caverns.

Everyday, more than a 100 million gallons of water flow from the spring into the Weeki Wachee River and is emptied out into the Gulf of Mexico.
